Karen Hanneman, M.A., CCC-SLP

I've been an SLP for for 8 years.  I did my undergrad work at UNK and UNL, and received my Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.  While studying at UNC, I was fortunate to receive early licensure and served as the SLP for 2 small schools in eastern Colorado.  I have also worked in the school system in Nebraska, as well as in a rehab setting before opening HSL with Laura in 2003.  I love working with kids of all ages and abilities, but have a particular passion for serving kids on the Autism Spectrum.  My husband Shawn and I live in Weeping Water with our daughters Izzie and Abbie.  I love reading and traveling with my family.

Beth Brady, M.A., CCC-SLP

I'm a speech language pathologist with 10 years of specialized work with children and adults with hearing loss.  I am an Omaha native, educated at UNL and University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.  I've partnered extensively with professionals at BoysTown National Research Hospital, Lincoln Public Schools, and other community professionals.  The advanced technology and therapy techniques of today give children and their families unprecendented access to sound and the ability to achieve like never before.  I'm honored to be a part of such an amazing process and am happy to offer Lincoln and area families a local aural rehabilitation choice.

Maureen Mattas, M.A., CCC-SLP

I have been practicing speech-language pathology for over thirty years.  In my early career, I worked with adults in a rehab setting and taught at the university level.  Once I began working exclusively with preschoolers in the public schools, I found my passion!  I am committed to providing early intervention and also enjoy serving children of varied ages.  I feel fortunate to be in such a fascinating field with a strong research base to influence current practices.  Heartland offers families a great opportunity for children of all ages to improve their communication skills.  I live in Lincoln and have 2 children, Chris and Katie.  I enjoy reading, nature, travel, gardening, and fun times with family and friends

Laura Steffensen

I am the office manager at HSL.  I'm origianally from Friend, NE and graduated from Wayne State College.  Karen and I started HSL in 2003 to give us the opportunity to work with some amazing area children and their families and also to be able to spend more time with our own families.    I take care of everything from scheduling to insurance and more, and I look forward to assisting your family in any way that I can.  I live in Eagle with my husband Kirk and our kids Emma and Ben.
